Question Ignition problems

I recently swapped the idle air control valve on my 94 Z28 and it ran fine for 2 minutes. Afterwards it started spitting and sputtering, and idling radically, going from 600-1000rpm. So I turned the car off, and I seen that coolant was leaking out of the bottom hose from the throttle body. It did not leak alot, but the area behind the water pump was wet. Anyway, I put a new clamp on the leaking hose, dried the water as best as I could, and tried to start the car again. Nothing. It would not hit a lick at all. I took the connector out of the top of the opti today and it was bone dry. I have a shop light close to the opti now, hoping that the heat from it will evaporate any water around it. Is the opti vented on the top? I thought that it was completely sealed to prevent any water from getting in it. Any ideas or suggestions that will help get the car running again? I hope that I won't have to replace the opti but i believe that it is the culprit.

My 95 Opty is not completely sealed. There inst any seal between the cap and the optical part. The fit is not that tight either therefore not liquid resistant at all. I will completely dis-assemble my 149k mile opty and find a way to insert a ruber seal or gasket in there. I am thinking of buying that MSD cap and rotor and then seal the opty and kept it as a replacement just in case the brand new one I put on two days ago dies on me.

I have heard so many storys of guys replacing optys like underwear and my old one is just fine. I thought it was time to change it due to the high mileage but honestly there is little wear on it. Even the bearing is well lubricated and no play in it. Better than the re-manufactured one I returned to the autoparts.. the bearing was loose.. really loose.

So no.. its not water resistant.
