Hey guys, I was on my way to work today and about 1/2 mile down the road my car started missfireing then backfiring, mind you its driven perfectly before that and the half mile to where ever I got. I know its ignition because it smells like gas and I assume the backfire is when it lights late for what ever reason and travels down the exhaust burning. Now first I thought well maybe a plug is bad but I checked them a week or so before and they were fine, and wires werent arcing that I could see so opti rings a bell. It didnt throw on the SES light though, howevert a day before when it was working fine it randomely came on and went off when I turned off the car I think. Ill scan it and see what the code was but is there anyting besides opti that I could look at? Also if it is opti I dont want another opti so would the delteq work or do I need a certain part of the opti working to have the delteq work?? ....HELP

BTW it has 84k miles on it and original opti, but plug wires are old too and it seems to be missing on one side rather than randomely but I guess an opti failure could start missing on one or two cylinders right or is it just a random miss on all cylinders??

 

NM I found a burnt wire, I ran it between the block and the header under the number 5 cylinder I think what ever one is the second from back on the drivers side. I used aluminum foil to protect it which has worked without fail in the past but when I replaced that drivers side header it cam off a little and I didnt put it back on right so ...nm I jumped the gun a bit
