ignition problem?

I started up my car to move is so Icould wash it and it ran fine. After I washed it the **** wouldn't start. I didn't wash the engine bay and just installed a new opti about a month ago whe I did heads/cam. I pulled off a plug wire and stuck a plug on it to see it I had a spark and nothing. The car has the orginal coil for the opti could that have gone bad? Also the car has been running very very rich could I have fouled out the plugs? I took out on of the plugs and it was black so I cleaned it and put it back in. When I tried to start it it sounded like it tried to fire. Any thoughts?

check the spark at the coil with a good plug or spark tester.

If there is consistent spark there (not intermittent) then check spark at each plug wire.

Where ever the inconsistancy is, that item needs replacing.

Don't forget to try different wires (from other plugs) just incase the wire is bad.

Don't forget to check plugs and pins. Some can be bent or plugs may be backing out from vibration due to not being seated properly

Well, I waited untl night and tired to fire it with a plug attached to the wire and I had spark so, the fact that the plug I pulled out was so black it looked like it had been dipped in oil probably pinpointed my problem. Today I'm going to change the drivers side and see if it tries to fire.
