ignition / coil upgrade
i purchased a new crane hi-6 ignition and an lx-92 coil to go with it. i went to the dealer to ask a few questions and a tech told me not to change the coil. he said the stock coil (95 Z) puts out 60,000 volts. can anyone confirm this for me? the crane is only 55,000 so i am now i dont know which to use. any information would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I have the same ignition fireball HI-6CD. I can tell you that the stock coil will not work with the HI-6 ignition. The coil will either short out or you will damage the ignition box. Also the stock coil resistance on the primary side is from .3 to 1.3 ohms. the crane LX92 or PS92 is .2 Ohms. The secondary side of the stock coil is between 5000 to 7000 ohms. the crane Lx92 or Ps92 is 3500 ohms. The Crane coil is matched to the ignition box. I just had to replace my coil becuase the HI-6cd ignition I have my stock coil. The resistance numbers for the coil came straight from Crane yesterday. I have to order a new PS92 coil before I can use my ignition box again.
