ignition coil question

are you suppose to see any "light" spark around the coil? with the garage lights off i can see a small "spark light" around the coil and a small "light" on the porcelein part of the plug.

my car has been idleling a little rough lately. i changed the plugs and i just now changed the coil and i still see the "light" around the coil and plugs. its a msd coil and platnium plugs.

It's normal to see a little blue plasma, as long as there is no arcing and popping. The rough idle you are experiencing is probably due to a dirty IAC valve considering you have fresh plugs.

I would think that dielectric grease would help with the blue plasma look.

Glow is not harmful but arcing is.
