If i lover fuel pressure will PCM correct it??

I was thinking that my next project would be an adjustable fuel pressure regulator since i have heard some outstanding results for the money. Something like 10-15 HP.

Then as i researched the subject more i have learned that my PCM will correct for lover fuel pressure with longer pulses in the injectors, thereby resulting in a stock air/ fuel ratio and loosing any previous horsepower gains.

IS THIS TRUE??

yes the archives are correct, unless you change your injector constant in your PCM (reprogram your computer) it will learn out the change in fuel pressure and negate any gains.

Even if you are idling at 50 PSI, after your new program

As long as the PCM is able to go into closed loop, it will see any changes in fuel pressure reflected at the O2 sensors, and adjust the long term fuel corrections (and thereby the pulse width calculations) to bring the A/F ratio back to 14.7:1. If you reduce the pressure, the PCM will build the long term fuel corrections (BLM's) above 128, and when you go into power enrichment mode at WOT, it will use the BLM's from Cell 15, since it was adding fuel. No change in PE A/F ratio.

If you raised your fuel pressure, and the PCM developed BLM's below 128 to compensate, when you go WOT it will use 128 for the BLM's, and could in that way richen up the fuel mixture.... but that's not what most people want to do.

Trying to adjust a/f ratios to increase power by changing fuel pressure is a silly idea. You should look for hp in making your engine breathe better and adjust a/f with programming.
