idle rpm

idle rpm
i know for afew weeks now my car has been running rough only at idle and its perfect once givin some gas. now my question is once the car is up to temp my idle is exactly 500rpm and doesnt bounce or nothing one bit until you give it gas. should my idle be more then 500rpm? some people said its way to low and thats why its rough. thanks!
