I turned the key in the ignition, the dash lit up, but the starter didn't go
Like the title says, the engine wouldn't start and the starter didn't make a noise. The car has never had starting problems before and I'm pretty sure that the starter and battery are fine. After about fifteen minutes of trying, the car finally started. This happened once before too.
Do you think the ignition cylinder is dirty and the pass key wasn't working right? Other than that, I have no clue. What do you think?

Besides battery and starter, it could be anything from battery cables to ignition switch, to theft deterrent relay. If your security light was on, then it would have something to do with the VATS.
