well, i just took it out for a drive for the first time since it happened and it still pulls like a raped ape so i think i am ok. But is there anything else that could have been damaged? Sorry for asking the same question, i am still very paranoid because i cant believe nothing happened. Maybe these lt1's are just beasts. I still am not sure how high i revved it. I might have not revved it as high as i thought, it just sounded LOUD.

Maybe you think it reved to high because of the sound, if you weren't (I'm not sure if I understand exactly what happened) in gear the engine revs much faster than in gear. Maybe that's why you think it reved up so high when it was actually just cause it reved so fast? I dunno, that was my really confusing guess at it.

As for checking for bent pushrods; pull them out and roll them on a piece of glass or other flat survace, that way you can tell if they are bent by the way they roll. It sounds like your engine is ok though. I've tached my engine w/ the hotcam up to 6500 before a couple of times with no problems. I think your ok.

i did it once at the track and left a big puff of black smoke behind me. i also did it once racing a new Stang GT on the street and thought i ripped the rearend and tranny both out of the car but i lined up with the GT again down the road and spanked him. i swear i revved 10grand! these LT1's are beasts!
i don't recommend doing it anymore though, i does suck...try pulling your elbow in towards your body more before making that 2nd-3rd shift...that's how i finally stopped missing it.

Sounds like you're gonna' be alright. Don't sweat too much.

The SBC will tolerate a bit of over revving, from time to time. If you plan on making a regular practise of it, plan also on opening your wallet for various and sundry expensive parts ie: bearings, pistons, valves etc.

Give it a big hug and a kiss. Be sure to change your oil at the proper interval or before. Apologize profusely. Tell her how much you love her. She'll be good to you.
