I think I am screwed.

Well, my rocker arms are hitting the base nut of my studs. Pic below. Is it common practice to mill down the stud bosses to compensate for guideplate thickness? I am not sure if mine were or not. I emailed Llyod since he ported and installed all the hardware.

The quick fix would be to install longer pushrods. I cann't do this because the stock ones are too long now and they are hitting. So what my alternatives?? Do they make thinner guideplates or lower profile base nuts on rocker studs. Either of those may give me enough clearance.

Not sure that the hex on my studs are that tall. Try looking at a different set of studs. Your pushrod length should be based on where the rocker tip sits on the valve.

Click here to see what a set of ARP rocker studs look like. They're kind of tapered at the base for clearance...yours just don't look right at all. If I remember correctly, even the stock studs are tapered down like the ARPs are.

Well, I bought some APR studs and they make it alot better. Much lower profile nut. The taper is hitting the body now. I think I can remove the 90 degree edge on the rocker arm body and make them work. Now I have a new problem. The APR studs are like 1/4" or so longer on the top end and I can only get 1.5 threads on the set screw. I don't think that is enough to lock them down. Geez.....today is starting to suck.

Llyod suggested that I try "lash caps". It appears comp cams sells them for my diameter valves. They will make the valves 0.080 longer.

If I raise the valve by 0.080" then I am assuming I will need to go back to stock 7.200" length pushrods since 7.150" was what I needed before. This will raise up the other side of the rocker and should give me the clearance I need to clear the taper part of the ARP stud.

As far a rocker position on the valve; will increasing the valve length via lash caps have the same effect as a shorter pushrod would? (moving the contact point upward toward the intake)

Also, thxs for the suggestion on the ARP studs. That REALLY helped.
