I talked to comp cams today.
I talked to comp cams today.
The guy I talked to said that the 07-466-8 cam would work the best for a bolt on lt1 w/6-seed tranny. It seems a little low to me though the specs are 218intake 224 exhaust and 570intake and 565 exhaust w/1.6rr. This seems like an LT4 hotcam with more valve lift on the exhaust and intake but the duration is the same as the LT4 hotcam and it scares me to think the cam maybe to small. Don;t want it to be done twice. He said the cc305 wouldn't give me as much power as this cam. The duration is 220intake and 230exhaust and I'm not sure on the valve lift. So what do you guys think? Go big or go home or listen to the professional?
Re: I talked to comp cams today.
cc468 is bigger and it's .584/.579 242/248 and the cc306 is a great cam too with 230/244 .510/.540 but when your duration gets bigger your loosing lower end. I would go with one of these cams I just listed because you can get a better cam than the LT4 with your money.

Both of those cams are way too big for a car with stock heads in my opinion. You will lose a ton of low end TQ, and never reach the potential of those cams with stock heads.
The cam the original poster listed would be great for the street, with stock heads, and good valve springs.

Re: I talked to comp cams today.
The 07-466-8 cam suggested by Comp Cams is the XFI 268. It has agressive ramps and acts like a bigger cam. At .200 lift it has 143 degrees of duration which is as big as some of the older 230 degree cams and much higer lift which is a good thing. It is a much better cam the the "old school" 218 hot cam. IMHO they gave you good advice.
Re: I talked to comp cams today.
I went through this same thing a few years back. I ended up going with the 227/233 combination motorsports grind which is a comp cams xe grind (look it up on their website). I really like this cam. I have 6 speed with all the bolt ons, and 4.10's in the rear, and have to say the low end and the top end is good with this cam, throwing it up to third on burnouts are no problem with this cam (ie has good torque). Cam has pretty good street manner with very little surging after I had it tuned. My heads were very mildly worked when I did the cam swap, mainly just a good valve job, and made sure the springs were installed at the correct height. Hope this helps you choose.

Listen to the Comp Cams guy. There is no reason for him to point you to the wrong cam for your setup since cams are their business and he's not recommending his brand over another companies cam.
