i set a goal. Help me get there

Today i did some thinking on the time i want the t/a to run after winter. I wanna run a 12.8 1/4 mile or better by next summer. The car is a 1994 A4 trans am. The only mod to date is a flowmaster catback exhause. What mods should i do that will get me w/ traction of course 12.8 or better? Thanks for the help guys i really hope i can meet my goal.

he said high 12's not mid 11's. You only need a 75 shot to get there

Get yourself a CAI(K&N fipk, SLP, Moroso) first. They are all basically the same so get which you think looks best. Then either get yourself a better catback or get a cutout. You should also get some gears, stall, and some drag radials. From there i would get some good headers. LT's if you don't have to worry about emissions. If you do then get either macs, slp's, or as&m's. From there you can get a cam and that should put you around mid 12's. But if your just shooting for 12.8 you could possible get it with some 1.6 or 1.7 rockers. With those mods you should be there. Just make sure your car is running top notch.

Gritter....there a lot of different combinations you could go with. The first thing you GOTTA get is a CAI kit. That's the one must you should have and the most bang for the buck. The engine gotta breath. Next thing you gotta get is the headers. After that you can go in all different combos. I would go with the converter for sure and possibly a cam package like the HotCam kit which comes with 1.6 rr's, springs and everything for 490 shipped. That should get you there.

probably not the right spot for this question but why do so many people pretty much hybernate their f-bodys during the winter?

does it not run at cold temps or something?

ever try driving a rear wheel drive car in the winter? Let alone a rear wheek drive car with some power? Also the salt they put on the road hurts the paint i think.

Yeah here in cali i don't think we have to worry about winter as much. Ecspecially where me and you live there isn't any snow. But sometimes when it rains real bad it sort of sux to drive a rear wheel drive car with power. At that point i sort of miss my AWD.

Mild port job, mild cam, headers, cat back, cold air, drag radials, 2800 stall converter, and decent driving should basically do it. There are other details that you may "want", like looser shocks in front to help with the launch, shift kit, gears, but the above mods should easily get you there.

A couple years ago I had a Flowmaster muffler as my only mod and my car ran 13.80's. The car had over 130k miles and I wanted to run 11's with N20 here is what I did. I pulled the heads off and me and a friend cleaned up the heads (very little portwork),I installed a Hotcam kit, some AS&m headers and a Vigilante 2800 converter. I had someone send me a mailorder tune and off to the track I went. With worn out Et streets the car ran 12.69@105mph in 100degree weather with stock 3.23 gears and a 3750lb raceweight and stock 17's on the front. Over the next few months I tuned on it, put skinnies on it and swapped a set of 3.42's in. I got it to run 12.30's@110mph in better weather, awesome combination. I then sprayed a 150 NX shot and ran 11.30's @118mph not even spraying the whole 1/4 I have since swapped setups b/c the car is no longer a dailydriver and my goal is now 10's@125+mph .
