An I run my LT1 with the Flexplate off?

I am trying see where my oil leak its. The pan or the rear seal. Is it ok to run the engine without the trans and flex plate bolted to it??

If it's neutral balanced, yes. But how do you plan to start it?

Maybe he's going to wrap a pullcord around the balancer and just give it a good yank? Sorry, I couldn't help myself.
