A.I.R. Pump Connectors??????

I keep having trouble with my AIR pump. I replaced it with a different one, but it seams to be a different design. The one that was originally on my car has a harness stemming out from the connector that connects to a bleed valve above the pump, while the one that I just got has the wires going directly into the pump from the connector. Its is on a 96 Z BTW. I'm aware of the recall but I dont know if the two pumps are different because there is a OBD-1 or OBD-2 design, or what.

I just would like to know what the difference between the two is, and how i can go about getting the correct one, or if I can just rewire the one i have.

Thanks alot guys!

Either ebay or disassemble the original and clean it, oil it, and replace the valve seal rubber. Condensation creates muck inside the fan blade housing and will eventually lock up the internal fan. A good cleaning and it'll run like new again. There are previous posts on how to do this.

Thanks, i was just wondering what the difference between the two are,

One has a seperate harness comming from the connector, while the other, the wires go directly from the connector to the pump.

Does this have anything to do with the recall???

Don't know, never took mine in for the recall...didn't want some lame GM tech beating on my ride... I think Shoebox has a pic of the recall air pump and plumbing on his site.

The early (93-95) AIR system does not have the bleed solenoid, so there's no need for the extra wires on the pump. The pumps should be identical, except for the wiring. The 93 pump was mounted to the chassis, rather than the front of the engine, so that might provide some physical difference. But it appears you have a pump off a 94 or 95, without the wiring for the bleed.
