I need urgent help ASAP!!!
Im trying to install 918s on a set of stock 95 LT1 heads for a cc306. Ive read all the threads that i can find and have the 918 springs, 614-16 locks, 759-16 retainers, and 4705-16 locators. Unless im reading my micrometer wrong (crane cams brand BTW) im not getting the correct install height. I accidently forgot to take the stock spring seat off and just put the comp seat on over the top of it and got a 1.72" install height. With the stock seat removed and just the comp seat installed, i get a 1.91" install height. What the hell am I doing wrong?
If someone can help me ASAP either on here or via AIM i would be greatly in debted to you. My AIM name is Nog736.

Im trying for the recommended 1.80".
*EDIT* I just checked on the second valve, and if i put the stock spring seat under the comp seat i get 1.72" on it as well. Do i have to keep that in there? I wouldn't think so because it doesn't sit flush.

Everyone else thats ran this combination hasn't had to use shims. They all said it dropped right in to the correct install height. Shims wouldn't be a problem if others had said they needed it.

Well every car is different. I only had .520 clearance between the retainer and valve seal when I did mine.
And people on here had told me they just put on 987's. Don't believe everything you read on the internet.
I think when people said they went right on they didn't check the installed height, or were referring to the fact that no machine work was nessasry.
There is nothing wrong with shimming the spring to the correct installed height.

I realize also that shims aren't bad but I'm not sure if they go above or below my comp seats? If they go below i know where a set is and ill go pick them up right now.
