i need a new cat

i found the vehicle inspection report. i passed NOx but i failed HC which needs to be 124 but i got 144 and CO% needs to be 0.69 and i got 1.04.

i bought it but it doesnt really fit nice. its about 6" too short. should i get it welded? what did you guys with this cat do? thanks.

You aren't really going to find a replacement that will be the exact size of the old cat.


Yeah, you need to have it welded. Call a muffler shop and let them know your situation. You got the CAT with the correct diameter inlet and outlet size right?

i took it to my local mechanic and he said he'd have trouble welding it because of something at the end of the converter where it meets the exhaust... what should i do?

Find another mechanic Exhaust work isn't rocket science.

Yeah, I can see where it would be more difficult, but it should be do-able. Since you are using the stock Y-pipe you have to cut the old CAT out and the old pipe may not be in the best shape.

Should be able to get it done though.
