I need help quick - Thermostat

I am changing the stock thermostat out for a 160* stat. I cannot for the life of me get the stock one out. It just wont budge. Is there a trick to it? or am I doing something wrong?

If you wont be using the stock one again, stick a screwdriver between the "arches" of the thermostat and pry it off.

what is the exact problem... bolts to tight or what?
soak them in pb blast

If its like mine which was stuck in the housing, I put a screwdriver underneath the arch and grabbed on both sides of the screwdriver and just pulled it out.
