ill tell you the same thing cut the extra crap out of the covers
mine hit about 1/4 in. before they were seated on the head
cut the little braces out and the fit perfect

I wonder too. I just can't imagine hitting the covers that quick unless he's got some very long valves, sunken valve seats, and long pushrods.

The problem with hacking apart the reinforcements too much is that they can become prone to oil leaks in a hurry..

As far as I can tell, I dont think they will fly. Which really sucks cuz I think the turned out really well...heres a pictureheres a picture Sorry the picture is so big, I took it for reference. I think it'd be easiest to put a dab of thick assembly grease just on top of the locks and put the covers in place (with gaskets). You'll be able to see for sure if that's what's contacting. Depending on how the valvetrain is setup it is possible but I'd want to make sure before getting rid of those cool looking covers

Just to be sure, if you are using like CC Pro Mags or such, be sure you don't have any of the trunions turned over. The poly lock fits down into the trunion which is machined out only on one side. If it is flipped over, the poly lock will sit higher and barely hit the valve cover. Just a thought, since it would be nice to keep your custom covers.

A search should get you all the parts for the LT4 valve covers pretty quick (cost is going to be ~$180). You can get the MBA stuff from MBA.

Yup, those are mine, though I think they look nicer in person. And the fit of the billet pieces is top notch.

Also, you don't need to order the mounting bolts if you get the MBA kit, since it comes w/ its own. You just need to order both valve covers, the 8 mounting studds, and the oil filler cap (MUST order this cap, the LT1 cap will not fit).
