Angry I need a hand with valve covers

Well, I have the engine all back together after replacing all the rockers, but now I cant use my valve covers. I went and had these valve covers custom flamed and painted Anyway, what valve covers will work with a larger rocker with the polylocks on them??? Please be part number specific if possible. I am in a bit of a rush, as this is the only thing I need to run the car. So where and which ones. All options please, I want a few choices. I cant seem to find anything besides the LT4 style, and I dont want those.

Its not the fins that are a problem. The covers are too short. Locks stick up too much.

As for tech, not enough traffic. This really is a time rushed thing

Pushrods the correct length? The valves are adjusted before attempting to install the covers? The nuts have been installed right side up (so the the ridge is pointing up)?

If all of this is correct how much more clearance do you need? Cutting the tabs off of regular SBC cork gaskets can get you just a little more height.

Yep, everything is right as rain. the valve covers are too short. They hit the polylocks by about 1/4 inch. Webbing could be trimmed , but the height is a unfixable problem.

As for the LT4 valve covers, I dont like them. I will use them if I have no other option, but I want something nicer looking for my underhood.

Try the cork gaskets, they are cheap and easy to get. With a little RTV you can double them up as well.

I bought a set of covers from these guys , and had 'em powdercoated.
Tall enough to clear my stud-girdles, and clears the alternator too.

Q, you have Comp Pro Mags now? We have relatively the same valve covers... Mine fit when we cut the webbing out. Call me.

My LT4 covers + MBA LT4 cover billet trim kit are some of the best looking valve covers I have EVER seen. I get tons of compliments on them.

They are kinda plain w/ out the trim kit, but once you add that, they looks REALLY good.

I appreciate the reasons you guys have for posting tech questions in the Lounge, but it's really starting to get pervasive. Please at least try posting the question in tech first. If you don't receive answers in a reasonable period of time (and that doesn't mean 30 minutes), then feel free to post a topic in the Lounge directing people to your tech forums thread if they can help.

This stuff makes it a lot easier for people to use the search function to find answers in the future, too.

Moving to LT1 Tech...
