12bolt or 9" with 4.10's or the like in it
get'em used for about $1600, spend the rest on sticky tires
and sell your stock 10bolt for about $350, since it has gears in it

power mods are no fun unless you can get it to hook without breaking

It depends on what you goals are for the car. If it was me, I would get the suspension and chasis up to snuff with the mods you already made. That would include Eibach Pro Springs, Koni or or Bilstein Shocks, New rear lower control arms and relocation brackets (if you get the lowering springs), Torque arm, sub-frame connectors, and a strut tower brace. You may also want to get a nice set of Bear or KVR rotors and better brake pads.

As far as more power, Nitrous with all the goodies is well within your budget. If you are going to do the installation yourself, heads and cam (cc305, LPE, or LT4 Hot Cam if you got smog testing, or one of the CC Extremes or 306 if emissions is not an issue)

Just my opinion

get a rear end trust me

buy a 9" by currie or moser but you can get a 12bolt if you dont plan on going under 10.99

i have seen too many 12 bolts get torn to shreds by having too harsh a launch
we spray a 9in from the start and run into the 10s and have no problems,

however i have seen one 12 bolt get torn up by a H/C car that only made 440rwhp and runs 11.4s and some 9.90 cars that just tear them to shreds

and then there are cars with 12bolts that are in the 8's. so that 10.99 number is just falacy(sp?) there is no certain ET or certain HP that kils or breaks anything, it comes down to traction and how the internals of that rear are setp
stock elim f-bodies use 12bolts and they are in the low low 10's and some in the 9's

but i do agree with you, if you want to go for low ET, a rearend better then the 10bolt is definately needed

surprised no one has said a cam. I have gone the suspension route instead of a cam because I am still in school and want decent gas mileage. And I must say it is well worth it. I have a front swaybar, SFC's, LCA's, and a TA. I can launch in the rain!! It is so sweet. I have some 1LE spings and shocks ordered too. I'll have a new riding car now.

Heads and cam if you want to have a car thats fun to drive, a 12bolt if you want low times to brag about.

You already have all the cool stuff for your car. Sell your shorties and buy long tubes? Maybe a LT4 hotcam kit would be fun. Do you have a rear girdle cover? For $120 thats a nice investment. Short throw shifter? Subframe connectors? Panhard rod? Window tint? Blah Blah.....
