Angry I got a big problem....

My cousin recently bought a '95 trans am (5.7 A4) and we went out to drive it and it has no *****. It shifts from 1st-2nd but wont shift from 2-3. It only revs out to about 3,000 RPMs in 2nd and wont shift. The gas pedal is all hard and not smooth and it just doesnt seem like it has any power. Anyone ever have this problem? Need some help!!

Could have a stuck valve...a thoroughly clogged cat...I kind think the throttle cable Idea seems to be the most logical though...could also be the pcm.

In D, it will shift from 1st to 2nd fine and then when its in 2nd, it will only rev to 3,000 rpms and will not shift (with the pedal all the way down).

i agree...because it wouldnt make sense if the tb cable works fine in only certain shifts...if it didnt work, it wouldnt work in any gear...

hmm, could it be an injector problem?

My car has the shifting problem. It shifts fine from 1-2, but it will get stuck in 2nd and not shift to third. I just had my tranny rebuilt. I dont know if it would be the throttle cable cuz if you can pull enough rpms to shift into 2, then you should pull enough to shift into third. I know my car shifts into 3 before 3000 rpm if im not into hard. You might want to check the TPS, the tranny could need to be rebuilt, or someone screwed your shift points up by tuning it wrong.

my tranny was rebuilt recently...very BADLY...the bastard who rebuilt it had screwed it up, because it would start in 2nd gear, and then shift to 3rd gear, and THAT'S IT!! it wouldnt go into first or OD...
i took it to another tranny shop, and they told me that it was an electric problem due to an improper rebuilt...they said that some parts had installed backwards, and some wires crossed...blah-blah-blah...

my advice, take it to another tranny shop...
