I found a couple cams for cheap...

I'm in the process of building an LT1 out of a 95 Impala SS. I'm gonna shoehorn this bad boy into my sonoma. I wasn't planning on camming it yet, but one of my friends informed me he has a 305 and a 306 for sale for $150. It's an auto, but I'll be using an S10 converter for a higher stall. 3.42 gears now, eventually it'll be 3.73. I've got the iron heads with stock sized manley race-flo valves. I'll be using titanium retainers with 986-16 springs (132# seat load, 280# open load). The rockers are pro-magnum non self-aligning 1.6 ratio. They are comp hi-tech pushrods and I'll be using stock lifters. That's probably an overload of useless information, but what would you guys say? I was planning on running it with the stock cam anyways for a baseline, but what cam would you pick. Would the 306 be way to big for the automatic and a close to stock converter?

Re: I found a couple cams for cheap...

Many people do the CC306 on stock or small converters. I cant tell you first hand, but most say it isnt that bad. I have the 306 cam with a 3800 stall and its nice. The cam is very streetable and has great manners. I almost wish I had gone bigger, but that will have to wait until I get some better heads.
