I see, why'd you add the filter on the radiator -> heater core line?

what kind of pump did you use for the icy water going to the throttle body?

got the pump at autozone for my 69 mustang, just a universal 7 psi carb pump.

Couldn't just do a regular throttle body bypass could ya....but nice setup!

how much water does it flow? have you tried it out, does it cool it nicely? How much did that pump cost at autozone? and one more question. is like 12v or something?

im not sure if its geniuse or a waste of time... though i guess u are thinking of ways to get more hp... thanks for the idea.. if im bored i might just try it... but all in all very creative, probaly the most intersting post in a while. keep it up.

Sweet! Now you just need to do an "air conditioner redirect to air intake mod" and you're set. (ice cold ac air directly into the intake, now that would be 'cool')
lol
Actually, it probably wouldn't be that hard to do....hmmmmmmm

it flows great, prolly 3 liters a min or so, my throttle body was slightly warm when I tested with regular water and in about 2 minutes it cooled it off.

the pump was like $20. with coolant and ice should work nicelyat the track.
I might buy one of those tiny trany cooler lookin things but real small to go after the pump to cool it off even more.

12v yes, turns on when the key is on

69 stang whats the story on that? I got a 69 Q code Mach 1. People have talked about doing this for years but no one has.

A friend and I thought this up about 8 yrs ago when I first got my S/C. My argument was the extra drag caused by the compressor. So to make it efficent you would need an electric compressor or driven compressor. A production car or a prototype car of some sort actually has a system but, I;m not sure if it is electric or mech.

The AC system runs off the crank, and as far as I understand, takes a pretty big performance toll for what it does.. The alt (which runs his pump) is already running anyway, so he's not really incurring any extra overhead there on a 1/4 mile run.

Maybe if you had an electric AC system, so that you could use it for the 1/4 mile running off battery power, you might see some gains.. but otherwise, I think you're going to lose out to mechanical innefficiency (like frictional losses)..

You'd probably have to find the smallest compressor possible from like a geo metro and hook up a good 12v motor on it, but that my idea. The motor probably couldn't turn it, and the power gain wouldn't be worth it unless you had it laying around.

And, I'm still of the opinion that in the interest of simplicity, less is more.

For the amount of hp you'd (maybe) gain (with an electric setup), I really don't think it's worth the weight, time, money, complexity, etc.

Less weight = Better acceleration, better braking and better handling.
