I can't find the problem!!!!!

At WOT in first gear around 4,000rpm my car acts like it is hitting the rev limiter. I have had this problem a while and can not seem to find the problem. I have put a scanner on it and everything checked out fine. The check engine light is NOT on. It started to have this problem shortly after I installed the 1.6 roller tips. I do have the comp guide plates but everything is centered right on. I also have the original springs on the car and will be buying a set of 918's shortly. Any help or opinions will be heard and probably tried if not already. Thanks

make sure you didn't break a spring after adding the rockers.

Yea check the springs. Also are you sure you have the correct length pushrods?

springs?

no not always! I had a K-motion break and at idle - 3500 nothing different but on up was nothing but spitting and sputtering! (old phrase but a good one!)

How much lifter pre-load did you add after installing the 1.6 RRs?

Sometimes it helps to include a link to the old thread when you start a new thread on the same topic:

is it only at WOT? can you slowly go up to redline at part throttle? If so, I am thinking electrics (opti!!)

If there is a problem with either the high or low resolution pulse generated in the Opti, you should have a code displaying (DTC).

A loose rotor could possibly cause a high RPM miss which will continue to get worse as the rotor screws back-out even more. While it is a lot of work, just removing, opening-up and inspecting the Opti will confirm or eliminate the Opti as the problem. In my situations last year, it proved the Opti was the problem every time.

You may be experiancing valve float if you are still using the original LT1 valve srpings.

You want to adjust the rockers to zero lash. To do this, spin the pushrod with your fingers while you tighten the adjusting nut. Once you feel drag on the pushrod, you can stop twisting and give the adjusting nut one half turn and your done with that one.

I don't know if that is always true. I was having the same problem, no codes. I replaced the opti and its working fine now. the bearing on the opti had some play to it and there was also some KN oil in the opti. wither way, replacing the opti fixed it.

very similar thing happened to me a couple years back although mine would do it in just about every gear. car would accelerate hard but around 4k would literally stop as if i was hitting limiter. pulled the cover on my rear end and part of the posi was actually shearing off. replaced the rear and solved the problem
