I have a '96 camaro z28 m6 and the fastest I can get it up to is 130 it doesnt shut the engine off or anything but it doesnt seem to go any faster than that does the mph just go up really really slow after 130 or should it be noticeably climbing?

 

doesnt seem like you have the speed limiter because the speed limiter on these cars stops at 110mph.. maybe you have different gears than your aware of and are running out of gear
because my buddies car with 4:10's tops out at 130-135mph

 

Don't shift into 6th, keep it in 5th till redline. I can tap out the 155 Speedo on my 97 M6, you shouldn't have any problems.

 

I'm not running out of gear or anything I still have like a 1500 rpms left to redline it just doesnt go any faster it does the same thing as my other v6 camaro except that one stopped going faster at 120 and then the check engine light came on.

 

hmm how are the plugs/wires/fuel filter?

 

What gear were you in when it stopped pulling?

 

6th gear

 

That's your problem, I shifted into 6th gear to and it just maintains the speed, keep it in 5th as long as you can. Like I said, I can tap out my Spedo, so you shouldn't have any problem. I just have a Stock SS with a K&N Airfilter and GMMG Catback.

yup you run out of power in 6th to move it. Why do you need to go 130 or faster anyway? I learned once the hard way its not a good idea.

 

Yeah, I wouldn't reccomend doing it on anything short of an abandoned interstate late at night, with the assistance of a trusty Valentine One. I use I-85 North.

 

i have 97 Z28 and when i had my stock gears in, i could do 145 in 5th, and could bury it in 6th.

 

i had mine to 145 in 5th, not enough power in 6th to go that fast.

 

You can't top your car out in 6th. I can bury the needle in 5th and then after that it pretty much runs out of power.
