Hung up on timing cover removal

Hi,

Trying to remove my timing cover, but im at a loss at how to loosen all of the oil pan bolts to drop it enough to get the timing cover off. Is there a trick/technqiue involved with getting to the oil pan bolts?

And lots of patience. Don't forget the one holding the tranny cooler lines bracket.

Crap -- that sucks. But how on earth do you get to the gones that are hidden by the steering crack and cross member?

Makes me just want to drive the car as is.. and put the cam into a new motor...

i have some big hands and I was able to get in there. You just need a 1/4 ratchet and some shorty extensions.

Pull all the oil pan bolts but the back two with 1/4" sockets, tiny wrenches etc. Carefully drop the pan and dont tear the gasket or you are going to be super pissed.

Obviously, i had the instructions all wrong lol. I thought all i had to do was loosen the last two bolts.. and it would magically drop down a bit.. Yea i know... tard moment!

I'll try and be super careful with the pan.

Yep. Combination of extensions is the trick.

I know this might be a dumb time to ask this.. but Should i even bother going forward with my cam swap on a motor that i suspect was not taken very good care of?

Or should i just build one up from scratch and to a engine swap? Its not the oil pan bolts that changed my mind.. but i would hate to do all this work and have it throw a bearing or drop a rod. Any opinion? Car has about 114K miles on it.... previous owner didnt do regular oil changes on it and it had been dumping fuel in oil for about a week.... bad ignition coil.

I'd still go through with it. A friend of mine dropped a cam in his 94 with over 200K on the odometer and it is still working fine. the previous owner of my friends car would change the oil about every 6-8k miles and treated it like crap.
