Hub Question

Hub Question

I spent so much time pulling this pain PITA off I didnt notice if there is a crank key for the hub.I noticed that there was a groove where the hub is.But I cant find the key if was there was one there.Shoebox diagram does not show it it detail.

Stock LT1s use no key on the hub.

There's a groove on the crank snout, but no grove on the stock LT1 hub; therefore no key.

Per the shop manual and considering your circumstance...

Get the #1 cylinder to top dead center. Align the cast arrow on your hub to 12 o'clock and install.

The manual perscribes aligning the "dots" on the crank & cam gears (equivalent to #1 TDC) and installing the hub with the arrow straight up.

Even if you are off a bit it shouldn't upset the balance.

This was messing with my mind when I was putting the hub back on. I was freaking out trying to find the key that I never remember coming out when the hub came off.
