hub ?

I was going to put the dampener hub on my new motor but the inside of the hub was a bit grungy looking so I gave it a quick cleaning with some fine sandpaper. I went to put it on the crank and I was able to slide it all the way into place. How important is the tightness of this fit. It is a keyed hub so it can't spin. Do I need a new hub or can I still use this one?

Even though it is keyed, I would be a little concerned if it just slid all the way on by hand. It still should be an interference fit, IMO.

Hmm, how hard was it to put on by hand? I had to pound mine in.

'Some force' AND keyed you should be OK[ that an aftermarket hub? stock LT1 hubs aren't keyed...]

Thats interesting I didn't know that. I just did my hub and it was keyed. It must be different on the lt4. I was wondering why the instructions I was following was specifying that the crank be at TDC, when it could only go on one way.

I have no practical experience with this, but I don't see how the hub's going to work. The key would keep it from rotating, but what's to keep it from moving forward a bit and slipping the belt?
