Hey Josh... do you know if it would be possible for me to reprogram my pcm say with a desktop computer on my bench???
Obviously a laptop is the way to go... but is it necessary? (ex recording driving performance) Im interested in trying something like this if I can get better results than an HPP3 for a lot less.

The TPS Enhancer may not make the car any faster but the throttle is certainly crisper. It depends on how you like your car to feel.

Been there done that...no problem. I use Tunercat ($90) .....cable ...$60. I also have Datamaster ($95) to log with....that of coarse requires a laptop .

Basically what im wondering is if it is necessary to have something to log with? Or is it just a [very] helpful tool that helps you tune better with? I can see myself doing a blind tuning job without one....

The computer doesn't matter. As long as you can get the computer close enough to the car, or, get a long enough cable. Any computer that meets the minimum performance requirements will work. One benefit to the laptop is that you can bring it right to the dyno though! Even if you never dynotune, the basic parameters are very easy to change (rev limiter, gearing, shift points, etc). Hope that helped...
