hp on new stroker? +nitrous?

hey guys well finally got the new 383 running right. and for all you who had been trying to help me chase down my problem we finally just bit the bullet and pulled the timing cover, sure crap all the people who said timing chain were right. we just had a hard time guessing that since it started so easy and actually ran relitively well for having the timing off so far. anyways i was just curious on what a good hp estimate might be for the new setup. i realize i have a tiny cam and i dont have any flow #'s on the heads but i just want to get some idea until i can pay someday to have it dynoed. Also would a 100 shot of n20 on hyper pistons on race gas just be stupid? just throwin the idea around its a long way off if ever anyways. thanks for the help everyone and for all the ideas with trying to get it runnin right.

o and when we built the motor we went ahead and gapped the top rings for nitrous just in case someday that idea came around. Also we went ahead and polished all the CNC edges on those pistons to remove hot spots.

not sure about the nitrous question, but I can say that a stroker with a small cam may not be big on horsepower but should have lots of torque.

Yeah I think you can't see 400rwhp because of that cam, but ~430rwtq.. Even cc306 is kind a small cam for a 383, you went with cc305.

I'll agree that that motor probably won't make 400 RWHP...probably closer to 350 RWHP. As for the nitrous...make sure the tune is safe and a put in a set of TR6 plugs and let it rip!

Yeah the chain was off a tooth. we had to disassemble all the timing componets after the motor was all together but before it was in the car, because the new key didnt fit with the balancer. we reassembled in a hurry and set the timing chain on #1 cyl, not #6 where the marks are right beside eachother. we were stupid and didnt roll it over to check that nothing moved. evidently it did. anyways it WAS advanced a tooth and thats why it was running like total crap. So problem fixed. thank goodness. anyways i have the TR6 plugs in right now, and would have some timing pulled but i just wanted to know how much nitrous the componets in my setup could handle if any.

o and arent there some M6 LT1 350's with LT's, small cam, rr's, 160*, tune, and CAI that are makin close to 350hp? did the head work and extra displacement not do anything to the hp #'s. o and i know it wont be over 400hp, i just was hoping for something around 370-390. i didnt want to spin the engine over 6200rpm and wanted a cam that didnt need to go any faster than that for my setup, not to say in the future it wont be replaced its just stayin in there due to bank account.

Your hyper-u-crap-tic pistons wont take being rattled even 1 time,so better keep the fuel rich and pull 2* of timing for each 50HP shot.
The rest should take 150 shot with ease(engine that is)

Someone else's numbers are great for a "ballpark estimate", but that's about it. Your headwork is a definite unknown, and I would have alot more faith in an actual dyno tune vs. your mail order tune job, so you're better off to guess conservative and be happy if you end up on the high side. It beats guessing you have major-league horsepower and then leaving disappointed at dyno time!
