hp increase w/ 383?

All things being equal, whats a decent estimation of hp gain when going from 350 to 383?

the horse power increase really isn't that big, but it will peak at a earlier RPM, and i believe have a flatter torque curve

someone plz correct me if im wrong, im still learning about the whole 350 vs 383 thing

I have heard that all else equal, you get around 3/4th's of a horsepower more per cubic inch.

So you have 33 more cubic inches than a 350. If the reasoning above were true, then you would have 20-25 more horsepower than a 350.

You will also have more torque down low, etc.

Eerything and I men everything being equal, the motor will peak about 500 hp sooner, and have a higher earlier torque peak. the torque peak will be quite a bit sustained as well (broader). You can figure like said above 15 to 25 higher hp peak. Now optimize and theres a whole lot more.

We'll assume you meant 500 RPM

If the heads aren't big enough, you probably won't see much in the way of increased peak HP at all - all things being equal.

Are GTP stage 2 LT4 heads sufficient for a D1SC procharged 383?

It would be nice to add 500 hp by simply adding 33 ci....lol

what do they flow?
AFR heads will probably be the best for a procharged application

If you don't mind me asking, what is your logic behind that suggestion?

actually, i have no logic behind that, but i ALWAYS see good results with the AFR heads, but they are quite $$, and going with other ported heads arent going to be any different probably.

i believe tho, that AFR offers a head with larger intake runners than anyone else, not sure on that, i havent really researched AFR that much

Buddy of mine got the best results (1,125HP) on an LT1 383 blower motor with modified Canfields. AFR's didn't cut it. Before the Canfields he ran LPE LT4's.

Especially with a blower, in a situation where the blower is maxed out and if there are no other changes you will see NO hp increase with a stroker. There will be a considerable torque increase and the car will go quicker in the 1/4, though as expected the trap speeds will change very little. A buddy runs a SBF with a maxed S-trim. He was running 10.0x @ ~135mph and making ~550rwhp with a stock stroke. The crank gave out and he needed a new rotating assy. We went with a 347 - so he gained ~40ci but due to budget limitations changed NOTHING else. There was an incidental small CR gain. The car made identical hp, within the margin of testing error. But it gained 50ft.-lbs. Track times went to high 9.80's at the same mph.

Exactly.
Going to a 383 will net you greater torque down low (30-40 lbs.ft. or so) and not just because of the longer stroke (lever), the bigger breath taken by the engine increases your port velocities. Your peak hp/torque numbers will happen at a lower rpm. Peak hp numbers will be roughly the same but overall average power will increase with the 383. A larger engine requires more camshaft duration to make the same power curve as the smaller engine.
