How would I... !EGR !AIR !A/C, !PCV

Hey, I am waiting on parts for my project LT1 and figured i would do a little research on these deletes.I want this car to be a daily driver when i need it to be.

I would like to know the advantages of !AIR, !EGR, and possibly A/C delete. (I may want to keep the A/C, this isn't a track queen).

Also, i think i want Dual Breathers on my valve covers(for show), so the PCV valve will also be deleted.

if anyone can make a quik write up that would be great, and if there are downsides please also list them. what will i need, where to get it, and how much i will spend.

I am sending my PCM to MadZ28.com, I hope he can get all my work tuned including the deletes i decide to do. I want to make sure i have all the performance parts and changes done to the car before i send the PCM out. I want to be driving around by the end of this month.

thanks all!!!

No real performance advantage in removing the AIR or EGR. AIR runs for a couple minutes at startup to help the cats heat up. Obviously, if you don't have cats, its not serving any purpose an can be deleted. But there's no performance gain, other than a reduction of about 7# of weight. Cleans up the engine compartment.

Ditto with the EGR... only operates at part throttle, moderate load. Recirculating the exhaust gas helps reduce combustion chamber temperatures, to reduce NOx formation. Also minimizes detonation when lugging the engine at part throttle/low RPM. Since the system doesn't operate at WOT, it doesn't hurt performance. Even less weight savings. Not much in the way of cleaning things up.

The need to "program out" codes depends on the year of the car, which you failed to provide. Why not add a "signature" showing basic info about your car - year, model, tranny type, and any major mods - so that you can get more accurate answers to your questions?

A/C gain is only from weight reduction.... 40-50#, depending on what components you remove.

Also, i think i want Dual Breathers on my valve covers(for show), so the PCV valve will also be deleted.
Bad idea. The vacuum powered PCV system provides a positive crankcase ventilation system. It pulls MAF measured clean air through the passenger side valve cover, down throught the crankcase, picking up blowby and condensation, then up through the lifter valley, through the PCV valve and back into the intake manifold to be burned. Deleting the positive cross-flow provided by the vacuum operated PCV valve leaves the blowby, and the resulting condensed water in the crankcase, with nothing to remove them, except the general flow of blowby out of the two breathers. The condensate will contaminate your oil and promote the formation of acids.
