How to tell if timing chain is good?
Gona need to see written proof of that
Never knew a SBC to be an interference engine. You are the first to mention it. Sorry but you are going to have to provide some other proof of that other than your word.
Where do some people get this crap from????In 40 plus years have been around several that have either jump time, broke a tooth or broke a chain. Never seen damage to the bottom or the top on a stock engine.
I don't know, maybe it's the water. LOL

That's comforting to know. I bought a new stock timing set, but didn't bother putting it on. And I've already changed the water pump & opti seals in my timing cover, so I don't really want to put it on now. My car has about 100K miles on it. It's nice to know that if the original timing set fails, it's not going to ruin my engine.
have you ever replaced the valve springs on an lt1 using the TDC method, those valves dont drop very far before the piston keeps them from going any further

I just bought a new stock GM chain, and gears a couple of weeks ago and installed them. The new chain had a fair amount of deflection in it. I really couldn't tell a whole lot of difference from the 150k mile original chain it replaced.
