How To Tell If Car Has An Oil Cooler?

I picked up an ATI Supercharger and was reading threw the instructions and seen that if you have an oil cooler you can T into the line. If not you have to tap into the oil pan. So is there any was to tell besides having to get under the car? It's a 95 A4 Z28. Thanks.

The best way is to get under the car, and see if your oil filter screws into a cooler.

If your car came w/ stock 2.73s (GU-2), it did not come equipped with one.

Check the option codes in the glove box, look for GU-5 (3.23's), and KC-4 (Oil Cooler) option codes.

I'll email you a diagram.

Or just look for two lines running from the oil filter to the front of the car.

BTW, I don't think you can Tee into those lines for a return because both should be under pressure. I could be wrong though.

What exactly do you plan on "T'ing" into??

The lines that come out of the oil cooler are COOLANT lines. Also, you can't exactly tap into the assembly of the oil cooler either. The instructions might mean if you have a real oil cooler, which actually runs oil through the lines and cools it. Good luck.

He's right there not oil lines. I belive the code is KC4 which is in the glove box if you do have a oil cooler.

Like the other said, those are coolant lines leading to the lower radiator and water pump.

Right above the oil filter (on the block) is a small bolt that can be removed and taped into. I taped into that for my engine oil temp gauge. I'm not sure if that's suggested for the procharger, but it's just something to consider before drilling any holes in the oil pan.

Rich,

Assuming you don't have an oil cooler.

The small bolt (I described earlier) that can be removed and taped into above the oil filter DON'T use.

Your going to have to tap a thread into the oil pan at the location of figure B1. (Be EXTRA Careful)

It also appears you need to T into the coolant line that runs between the lower left radiator and water pump at location Figure B2.

I'm sure someone else will jump in and help!
