Alright i've had the headers in for 5months no leaks until the other day I thought I kinda notice a diff noise from under the hood so I got out popped it and to my suprise my #1 primary is leaking. The one that slips in. I was just wondering what I can do to it to get it to stop leaking. Any ideas/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

 

I bought a 1 3/4" T-bolt clamp from summit racing and it held up pretty well.

 

Same here got the t clamp and no leaky.

 

I used RTV, hasn't leaked in almost 2 years.

 

RTV?? Are you talking about gasket sealer?? Also would it be high heat b/c I would think it would have to be

I have tried almost everything from hight temp RTV - Furnace cement- pipe expander none have worked yet i am going to get the tclamp today..i can let you know how it works.

The reason my kept comming lose is because i will botton out the car sometimes and it will hit the collector or y-pipe and break what ever seal i had made in the primary by moving it around.


If the t clamp doesnt work i am going to take out the header and get it welded...

 

I think that is most likely why mine is leaking b/c of bottoming out either that or b/c it is getting so cold maybe the pipe shrunk I dont know but I'll prolly be ordering the t-clamp sometime this weekend

 

Yep, used hitemp RTV.. my car never bottoms out tho, sometimes hits the Y, but has never affected the headers.. stock ride height.

 

i never could get hirh temp rtv to fix it permanently, i will try the clamp......anybody got a p/n?

i had a leak in my header, a big *** rock appeared from a car infront of me, i couldnt avoid it, dented my cross member and header, no more leak... lol, so go run over some boulders!!

 

Sorry for the "dumb" question but how does this T-clamp look?? Anyone has a pic, drawing or site where I can see it??

I have a U-clamp on my slip-on primary it works so, so.

Buy some one piece headers and keep everything tight.
