how to remove dust boot

Ok, so i finally am going to check underneath the dust boot to see if the tie rod is bent, but how do i get the damn thing off? i slid the spring clamp down the tie rod and mangled the other clamp so it is loose, i tried just pushing the dust boot out of the way but it doesnt seem to be working.... so i assume this is not all you have to do

here is my previous thread
http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...5&pagenumber=1

Ill give it another try in a second

EDIT: There is a slight rise in the tie rod that doesnt allow me to slide the dust boot to the side, but i can slide it in the other direction, but that doesnt allow for seeing much, and i cant seem to move the side at the rack end, but can twist it.
