Question How rare are hardtops?

Hey, my first post.

I have a old mk3 supra right now, about to sell it to get a LT1.

Anyway, how rare are hardtops for camaros? I saw a nice black Z28 for sale, but when I got close, it didn't have Ttops, and was pretty damn suprised.

Are they rare enough to warrant a higher price?
I'm use to turbo supras with hardtops being VERY rare, and usually bought for track cars.

Oh, and hi. Boards seem pretty damn nice.

I doubt it, t-tops is an option which costs extra. Why would you want a camaro without t-tops though? I cant imagine not having them.

The earlier years of LT1's T-tops weren't as used as often as they were on the later years. I personally like the looks of a hardtop better and i wish mine was a hardtop. Better lines and no leaks.

I've got a hardtop... wouldn't want it anyother way!

You dont see them as often as T-top cars, but I dont think they command a higher price.

My two last F-bodys were bought on purpose w/hardtops. I do alot of track time and t-tops are not really the way to go for that. There is the extra weight and t-top cars need sub frams for sure. Not that hard tops don't. T-top cars just have alot of flex when launching. I will never buy a t-top car over a hard top, that's for sure. JMO

Lightbulb

I WOULDN"T TRADE MY CONVERTIBLE FOR ANYTHING!!!
WOO HOOO
I swear nothing is better.

Yes you have to add more chassis to the car

Yes they are sometimes mysterious squeaks

YES convertible bodies can be made stiff enough for however much hoarsepower is thrown at it

I dont mind the ocassional leak from the window. It has to be a downpoor to make the slightest leak on my 95, new ones dont leak a drop.

NOthing like being able to cruise with the top down. makes the whole car and feel more fun. people will ask for rides just because of that over and over. !!

AND i'm sorry but nothing beats having a roll bar and throwing the top down to intimidate then raise the top to race.
hehehehe

However I did own an 88 IROC Hard top and it was a stiffer body for sure. The thing is I can't stand feeling couped up ina little cockpit. At least with T-tops you have basically the same structural integrity as a hard top and when your inside its like ahving a clear dome to look through All of them should have T-tops...

To answer your question, hardtops are not rare and would be cheaper than a t-top car, mostly because the t-tops were a several hundred dollar option.

T- tops just weaken the car due to the lack of support from the roof. If your going to race the car you always want a hard top. 2nd f-bodys have no sub frame that allow the body to flex . Sub frame connecters are a must if your going to add power to these cars !!!!

I've never seen or heard of one and read that leather and t-tops were standard on t/as. Lately I have been seeing t/as without the raised wing though which is odd.

There is a myth that T-Top cars will flex more and that they are weaker than hard tops. This is not the case. The hardtop cars have the same structural support as T-Top cars. The roof is plastic and the sheetmetal beneath it on hardtops are the exact same as T-Tops, meaning they are cut from the factory with sheetmetal taken out in the T-Top area in hardtop cars also.
