another question!

would a dremel be able to handle the job? i ask because i feel that with a dremel it would be easier to be more accurate.

porting the heads might give you some power
porting them well might give you some more

do a search, buy a book raise the roof

you might even gain some more with a bigger cam.

I've attempted to use a dremel but it just doesnt work well compared to a die grinder. Dremels are just too fast for cutting and the tools get clogged. Get a die grinder and run it at 10k rpm's and get some nice beefy abrasive wheels from Home Depot. You'll get way more cutting done, believe me!

Port them wrong and you will get less power, Do it right more power. If you have access to a flow bench I would flow them to see where your at and then flow them after. It's the only way to know for sure where your at. Just my .02

can you give me a couple of examples of mistakes that could cause you to lose power?

If you are going to attempt this, I would exercise caution. If you have any friends that know what they are doing, have them show you, or just keep them around. Die grinder, not a Dremel. Also, use the gaskets for a template. I'm having a friend do mine for me because I'm not comfortable enough with a die grinder yet

i am fairly certain that raising the runner roof's in the manifold will improve the entry angle into the cyl head port. the injectors get in the way of this though and its a big pain. worth maybe 15hp and thats if you know what you're doing. not worth the time bud.

....exactly! It won't do a bit of good to port the intake when the heads have'nt been port matched. I say go for it if you plan on porting your heads later on down the road, your just not going to gain anything until those heads can keep up with the flow.

Would'nt bother. Over port and you may experience reversion. Polish, and you might screw up the atomization of the fuel with the shiney surface.JMHO

Pay no heed to my response. I was thinking of something else.
