How much spray on a stock rotating LT1 w/CC306

You can see my mod's in my sig. How much spray do you think that a motor like this can hold, I have ARP bolts throughout, but still on a stock bottom end (although the rodcaps are resized, the crank is polished, the rings and hone are new, and all the bearings are new).

I really dont want to spray the **** out of it, but a 75-100 shot sounds nice to get a deep 11.

125, maybe a 150 shot. I wouldnt go any higher than that...

Cool Re: How much spray on a stock rotating LT1 w/CC306

A 100-150 shot should be fine as long as you have adequate fuel. I'm spraying a NX 175 shot with heads and cam on a 77k mile stock bottom end.

If I am spraying wet, I would just need a bigger fuel pump right, as the injectors wouldnt have to fuel anymore to compensate, correct.

And if that is correct, why couldnt I just put a T-Rex inline, and leave the assembly in the tank stock?

Thanks,
James

Re: How much spray on a stock rotating LT1 w/CC306

So there isnt a problem sucking all that extra fuel through the current fuel pump?

I mean, the stock pump would be sucking up fuel, but that T-Rex would be sucking harder, it wouldnt screw up the in tank pump would it?

On my charged stang I ran a 255 in tank and a T-Rex with a Vortech and it always held good fuel pressure, and they are so easy to install (unlike our intank pumps )

Lemme know!

Thumbs up Re: How much spray on a stock rotating LT1 w/CC306

You could go the inline route. I prefer the intank myself. I run the 255lph Walbro intank and have no fuel issues running heads, cam, NX.

IF I remember correctly, simply putting an inline fuel pump will not increase the volume that your in-tank is pumping (maybe very slightly). Your in-tank can only pump so much and the in-line can not suck additional fuel through the in-tank pump. If it is the stock pump and depending on the miles, you should be ok with a 100 no more. I know it is a PITA but it is very cheap insurance. Why cut a corner that could potentially come back to haunt you? I have the walbro 255lph and an NX wet kit in my basement and plan on spraying 100-150. You have the delteq so that is good. N2o relies heavily on you fuel and ingiton, so put the 255 in and spray the s*&@ out of it. Just my 2 cents. Later

Ya, I definitly have learned you dont want to cut corners on the fuel side, especially with power adders. Rich=Slow, Lean=Fast until it blows up, and somewhere in the middle lies perfect.

Would I need to modify my tune at all to compensate for the nitrous. I know the PCM wouldnt even know it was there since it would be sprayed after the MAF and the extra fuel would come from the wet kit, but I dont know if there are timing issues and what not.

Thanks,
James

If I were you I whould have the car dynoed tuned off the bottle to dial it in (air/fuel, timing, etc.) before you start to make any bottle pulls. Once the motor is ready, N/A, then start out with a 50 shot dial that in, then step up to 75-100 and dial that in, then 125-150 depending on what shot you settled on. The idea is gradually step up the shot and tune out any "rough" spots before going bigger, i.e. don't start at the 150 and then to tune in.

How many sprays and how often are we talking here to "Dial it in"

Is this a trick question? The tuner that is dyno tuning it will make as many pulls as necessary, and as often as he/she deems necessary untill he/she is comfortable with all the vitals. Then he pays the tuner and is on his way, free to then spray it when every, and as often he sees fit. There is no formula, it all depends on how proficient the tuner is with tuning, and specifically tuning the LT1.
