how much rwhp gain with LT4 hot cam?

First off I would like to know how much horsepower and torque you guys got from you LT4 hotcam. A before and after dyno sheet would be great.

Would it work ok with out headers, my lifters are making noise so I want to do the cam at the same time. I know I would get optimal performance with headers though.

How much did you pay to have it installed?

I use to have a website book marked but the website doesn't work anymore. If you do a search on yahoo about hot cam dynos you might find it. It was a dyno of a guy with hot cam and stock manifolds i believe he put down 300rwhp or real close to that. So after doing the cam you will be just about equal to someone that has headers. It should work fine with out headers and really come alive when you do headers.

My buddy had a 96 ws6 Formula and the lt4 hot cam kit, stock exhaust manifolds, SLP Loudmouth, 3.73 gears, Spec Clutch, spec billet flywheel, msd 6al, and a few other small mods and he made 317rwhp. Which is GREAT, stock exhaust manifolds resistricted it alittle but he is making alot more power now with headers

I should be around 320 to 330.rwhp................most guys say that with the hotcam and a good tune you can get a good 30 to the rears.............

I've heard 30-35hp, then the headers will be even more effective when you do them.

Hey, I am working on an iron headed Lt1, can I expect these kind of numbers with the iron heads. I'm at a critical time in my project... choosing the right cam.

P.S. This engine will breath real well, and I will be having a chip burnt.

Thanks, matt

The iron heads will be fine. You might want to go a little easy on the compression ratio though, I have heard they are more prone to detonation, but it's not too bad. Nothing a little bit thicker headgasket couldn't fix.
