How Much Of A Problem Is This??????

i think i finally found out what that annoying rattle sound coming from under my car is....the sound comes from under the shifter when im inside the car,

anyways i looked and saw that my exhaust was loose, cuz my buddy said he saw a rattle then it went away then came back......i was wandering would that make a big diffrence performance wise??????????

also sometimes when i give it a little gas i hear it shake and make a slightly diffrent sound then back to normal

Why not fix whatever it is? Jack up the car, put it safely on stands and fix it. Its probably either a loose, rusted clamp or broken hanger. Just fix whichever it is.

When I put my exhaust on, I had a bat rattle coming from under my car. Right where the exhaust pipe goes over the rear axle, theres a heat shield up against the floor, and the pipe was rattling against this heat shield, which was then hitting the floor of my car and making an awful noise....All I did was put some fire-retardent insulation between the heat shield and the floor. Now the only noise coming from under the car is the rumble

yea

if its just the exaust shaking, and rattling, i doubt it will harm any performance, but if theres a hole in the exaust or anything is abnormal about it, then yes.. but seems like you just need to make it tight and not about to fall off .. any how.. i could not drive my car with any sound like that, it annoys me to death and i refuse to drive till its fixed :P, fix it yourself for sure

If its bad it might cause a false knock.

Yeah...Fix it not matter what you think its doing. If its rattling that bad, it might be causing false knock conditions...possibly pulling timing, etc and hurting performance. If its an exhaust leak, then youll have poor performance and that annyoing tic sound and nice black **** all on that area of the pipe(s). Just fix it....thats what its trying to tell you to do.
