how much lift can press in studs handle

I have Impala Iron heads on my firebird with press in studs, and I was wondering how much lift they can safely handle? I have a custom ground lunati nitrous cam that has .597/.597 lift with 1.6 rr's. Will the press ins handle that or do I need to go with screw in studs?

Don't know the exact number, but I went with Al heads on my impy because I didn't think it's safe to run 0.553 lift with pressed in studs. That 0.597 is too high, definetly go with screw in studs.

definately not unless you have a stud girdle,i still would not attempt that type of lift even with a girdle.i used a comp 292 510 lift and it pulled the studs up so your lift ratio will definately cause problems..

man that sucks, where can I get a stud girdle and how much? Do you think there is a chance it would survive with the girdle?

to be able to use a stud girdle you will have to modify it to work with the centerbolt valve covers(not hard)you will need the tall version covers to clear the girdle you can find the girdle at www.jegs.com i have the moroso version on my lt1 heads(alum.)

Re: how much lift can press in studs handle

nice, I'll check them out, I really don't want to pull the heads back off but I will if I have too! But do you guys think the girdle will hold it and have any longevity or is it just a band aid. Sorry for all the questions but if its only going to help for a while then I might as well redo the aluminum ones and put them on. Anyone know how much Loyd charges just to port

ps what do you have to do to modify to get the girdles to work? also where can I get taller valve covers, jegs?
