Question How much HP would I lose going back to a 48mm TB?

Hey fellas,
I'm just wondering how much of a loss (if any) would I take if I go back to a stock 48mm Tb. I have a 52mm TB now.
I'm having issues with low idle that started after I cleaned my MAF. I'm going to clean my IAC tomorrow, but If the car persist to idle low, I'm going to put the stocker back on.

Thanks.

Tim

My goodness,
My name must be "mud" around here for some reason. Not one response. If I knew the answer, I wouldn't have asked. I don't believe in posting just to be posting.
Any guessamate within reason would be appreciated. My stocker never gave me any trouble, but I want to keep as much HP as possible.

Thanks

Probably wouldn't be a big loss at all. I think the stocker can support up to around 400 and you say you are making less than that, so I suppose it wouldn't be a big loss. Sorry I can't give you the exact number you are looking for.

Hey AxeGrinder30thZ,
Thanks for the reply. I just had in my head that I may give up 15-20Hp, but can't find any info to support that theory.
I din't know the stocker could support that much RWHP

Take Care,

Tim

Why not get your stock one ported to 52? Thats what i did.. I didnt see an idler opening on BBK's and Holleys. This may be why they ahve idling problems. Some guys on ebay have good reps for porting to 52mm.

Well why would you want to replace it? Just cause the idle is rough? I've never heard of a TB causing a rough idle...how much would you lose? On your peak power with your setup I'd say probably about 5ish or so hp...power at the top of the power band maybe 8 or so hp...possibly 10, but you don't have a huge power building setup...

Check out Shoebox's page

I used rubbing alcohol and a little bit of gas to clean mine. Rags and cuetips worked really well.
Do not push the spring in on the IAC. I just cleaned the TB and IAC, I didn't touch the motor.
