Angry how much grinding on calipers to clear draglites?

I bought the $45 Bart wheels from summit to use with ET streets (wanted to save a lil money, didn't wanna spend the cash on draglites. These barts will definitely require some grinding.

Well, I've been out there grinding for a good while, and I'm really startin to think I might not be able to get em to work . I ground off basically all of the cooling fins that protrude radially out from the caliper, but it looks like I might hafta grind away some of the "meat" of the caliper too...I'm scared to take off much material cuz I don't wanna weaken the calipers...am I not gonna be able to clear these wheels? Does just removing the cooling fins and nothing else give enough clearance for say the welds? And what's the wheels that don't require grinding? (I'll do a search in a minute...this is just stream of consciousness .)

I hope I don't hafta return these and pay the money for actual draglites (which would be nicer anyway, but I'm kinda on a budget)...what's the cheapest ones available that don't suck?

TTT

I'm definitely not gonna spend $300 each for the Bogarts, so I guess some grinding will be necessary no matter what I go with...but do the welds require this much grinding? Actually I think a 1/2" wheel spacer would make it clear now, but I don't wanna be totally ghetto rigging something...also don't wanna grind off so much caliper that it cracks in half the first time I hit my brakes

I know you are on a budget but I got Weld ProStar XPs 15x5 front and 15x10 rear with dunlops up front and Nitto Drag radials for 1300 bucks.
Best thing about em, NO GRINDING, bolt right up and clearance is excellent.
I don,t understand why more people don,t buy these wheels, no grinding, no spacers.

To help with your current problem, I don,t think the draglites would require as much grinding as you are getting into. You could probably buy them and they would fit fine with the amount of grinding you have already done.

Because some people prefer the lighter weight of the 2-piece Pro-
Stars.

Just curious... do they now make the 15x10 XP's in a backspace larger than 5.5"? They don't show anything larger on the website.

As far as grinding the fins with the DragLites or Pro-Stars, taking the fins "mostly" off will do it. No need to get into the "meat" of the caliper.

The current rage in "no grind" fitments seems to be the Centerline TelStars.... have you considered them?

I did not know they were lighter, thanks Injuneer that clears up alot.
Also cleared up why the wheel shop I got mine from INSISTED the 5.5 BS was fine for my car, they don,t come in another BS.

so for the centerline telstars, I'd need these ones, right? Like the barts, they don't come in a 5.5" BS, just a 5...

Even if I exchange these barts for something that doesn't require grinding, I think I'm gonna grind a little off my other caliper too so I match
