Question How much can a stock rear take?

Alright i have the mods listed in my sig with the exception of a 3200 stall vig. convertor i'm installing soon. Now i want to be able to benifit from the convertor so i have ET streets. Now will my stock rear be able to handle this. How much do you guys put through yours. Like i said mods are in the sig with the dyno numbers. Thanx

Depends on what kind of traction you're getting. If you start ripping 1.6-1.7 60' on a regular basis, then I'll start worring.
And besides, A4s are usually friendlier on the rear end than a M6.

That's what everyone keeps on saying that since i have an auto then it shouldn't be as bad and i'm hoping for the 1.7 but i'll settle for the 1.8

Power doesn't kill 10 bolts.

Downshifts and launches do.

I have over 115 passes on my current gearset...most of which consisted of 4500+ rpm clutch drops on ET Streets. Some will last a while, some may blow the first time out. It's a crap shoot.

You should be fine, my first 10-bolt lasted 450+ runs at the track cutting 1.5's - 1.6's, the posi was in the process of letting go, gearing was fine. I'm on my second posi and a used set of gears and still going strong with 300+ passes on it.

My best 60' was 1.49, mainly I cut in the low 1.5s to mid 1.5's right now.

I'm hoping it doesn't go out first time out. BTW it has 110k on it and the guy that had it before me was old and the car was bone stock. I know that old doesn't mean anything because my friends old man is 50 and he beats the hell out of his z06. Thanks for all the input.

Mine's held up fine to over 50 hard launches on drag radials, M6, ran the times below last time out. This is with 4:10's, solid pinion spacer, rear cover with preload studs and a stud kit

A4 guys worrying about the 10 bolt

When you switch to an M6 and run the stock rear then you should start worrying

The 10 bolt question is always a doozy....

I've come to realize that it just deponds on Driving Style.

I mean you could ride around with 900hp all day on the 10 bolt...but if you did some super duper Jet lee 5-6K Drop kick on the tranny at the track what do you expect?

Mine lasted for 3 seasons. The first 2 were low 13's/high 12's with 60 ft. times in the 1.8-1.7 range. It broke on the last race of the season last year when I was running 12.0's with 1.67 60 ft. times.
I'm going back with a 10 bolt next year...
GM 3.73's, Auburn posi, solid pinion spacer, and DTS girdle.
Alot of faith based on the fact that I'm throwing a 150 shot on top of the 12.0's...LOL

Mine is still going low 1.5's to 1.6's is the norm. 3.42's used and I run 11's@117mph N/A in a 3550lb car.
