How many quarts of oil do you put in you canton pan?

How many quarts of oil do you put in you canton pan?
Stupid question, but at the moment I cant get the dipstick in, due to the new splayed 4 bolt main. Until I figure that out, how many quarts on oil do you have to put in her. Right now, I have the 1 quart filter, and 6 quarts of oil total. Is that about right?

So your dipstick reads 1 qt. low when using 5 qts. This coincides with Nutek ( and Canton) suggesting the pan is a 6 qt. pan, PLUS filter. So, why would you run a qt. low?
