how many mods before tune on SD 1993
how many mods before tune on SD 1993
I have owned 2 1995 fbodies with bolt-ons and a tune.
I am looking at buying a 93 trans am auto, and was wandering what all bolt-on's can be done before you have to tune it?
I don't know much about Speed Density and I'm not sure if I should buy the car or not.
Thanks for any help

Basically everything up to a new set of gears, if you consider that a bolt on. Some say that you need a tune for LT headers. Wouldn't know, I did headers/cam/tune at the same time. If it were me, I would get a new tune with bolt on's anyways because a tune is pretty reasonable as far as cost goes for the added performance.
www.speeddensity.org that website is specific to 93 fbodys we can answer most all questions about the car...
for a tune we need to have a chip burned... I obviously have a pcmforless... good prices and good service
id suggest getting a tune after longtubes.. most everything else you should be fine but a tune would bring the most out of it... plus you can always send the chip back for a retune...
also with longtubes, converting to heated O2 sensors helps... the owner of sd.org makes a conversion kit for us

So cold-air, throddle-body, catback, underdrive-pulley are OK
Sounds like its about the same as mass air!
Do you guys usually have the car Dyno-tuned or is a mail order chip good enough with bolt-ons and longtubes?
Thanks, Kris

Don't necessarily need a tune. Of course, if you have the extra money, might as well. As others mentioned, it will help with things like AFR, idle, etc. 93's are sometimes a pain in the *** for local hands on tuners though if they can't burn ePROM chips.
Mine did the same thing idled like I had a small cam when I would get to stop lights, wouldn't ever die but was annoying, after the heated conversion car idles smooth again.
