Exclamation how are LT1's??

alright guys,

i currently have a 94 v6 camaro....i'm selling my car and buying a z28, now my question is....i found a 1993 camaro z28 with 116, 000 miles on it t56 trans, with flowmaster exhaust and everything......is $5500 too much and how long do these engines usually last?

also what do i need to look out for as far as possible problems before i buy it?

what differences are there between the 93's and 94's?

thanks for all the answers if you have any guys.

Don't buy a car unless it's exactly what you're looking for. If you want a manual (and you should ) then wait till one comes buy in your price range with a manual and the right number of miles. Don't just "deal" with it.. if you're dropping 4 or 5 grand on this thing it had better be exactly what you're looking for.

There are a lot of little differences between a 93 and 94 - 97 camaro - do a search for "93 specific" you should get a thread that's several pages long. I do know that 93's have a different overdrive gear in the m6 so if you're looking at one that's got a lot of highway miles it would be better if it's a 94 or newer.

Anyways, my .02 to you would be - BE PATIENT

Some of the things to watch for based on my 97 with 76,000 miles.
1. Water Pump- I have been through 3 for some reason. Look for weeping or coolent.
2. Oil leaks. Not fatal, but can be expensive unless you do feel comfortable working on the car yourself.
3. As for the opti, I have been lucky. It may be due to the vented Opti that was introduced after 95 (don't remember that year of the change.)

The LT1 itself seems very durable. It is just the stuff surrounding it that you have to be carefull of. It really helps if you are comfortable working on your car yourself. These things are fun cars, but they can be frustrating. Make sure you will be able to handle the possibility of frequent repairs..... steve c
