I am about to install my headers and was wondering if lock washers & lock tight will cut it?

 

Have you gotten the new headers in there? If you have then you probably realize that this job has been a real b!tch (especially if they're LT's) and you won't want to screw with these things ever again so just do it right the first time. Don't skimp on the bolts OR the gasket... Buy some ARP stage 8 locking and felpro gaskets so you know you never have to pull these off again to change the gasket.

Besides, when I pulled off my stockers on of those damn bolts was actually broken off in the block thankfully the LT's didn't bolt up to that hole. No way would I reuse the stockers - you could break one of those off in the block then imagine all the fun ahead.

 

I get you, what I meant by stock bolts was the oem ( new) not the old ones, btw the headers are Mac shorties and apparently the felpro gaskets don't fit these headers so opted for the stock metal gm gaskets, what do you think
