How long will it take to burn through wires?

I changed out the stock wires for MSD 8.5's.

They are big to say the least.
I used the stock wiring layout, but I had to cut out and throw away all the stock looms to make way for the beefy MSD wires.

The job took way too long and was way to difficult for just wires.
However - it's done.

I'm paranoid about #7, #6 and #8 - but mostly #7.

How long do you think it would take to know that I've routed it too close to the manifolds? Are these wires good enough to take some abuse for a while and then suddenly leave me stranded or will the problem become apparent nearly immediately after a good drive?

I drove the car for 40 minutes and after I stopped I couldn't see or smell anything out of the ordinary.........but I'm still concerned.

That damn #7 is impossible to see for the first 12" coming out from the plug.
It is routed behind a piece of metal that holds it against the block, which is strange also.........it goes in and then out following the rest on the drivers side.

How concerned do I need to be about this?
I need some reassurance before I can confidently drive my car to work I guess.........

Thanks guys!

Use zip ties! It wont take long at all for the wire to burn if its resting on the manifold. It will start missing as soon as the manifolds get hot enough to burn through.

Just crawl back under there and look for brown spots and make sure none of the wires are acctually toutching the manifolds, otherwise they should be fine.

And yess the #7 is a bitch.

Right on - thanks for the reassurance guys.

I'm just a bit nervous about it because changing them sucked so much donkey ***** that I don't want to have any problems.

Thanks again.
